Even though we live in a world of stain resistant carpet, nothing is entirely 100% so here is a sure fire two-step tip to fight the power of the stain when spills attack.
STEP ONE: ABSORBING THE SPILL
Start by blotting liquids with a dry, white absorbent cloth or plain paper towels with no colors. Using a printed or colored material may risk transferring ink or dye to your already stained and damp carpet. Continue blotting the area until it is barely damp.
**WARNING** Do not scrub a spill, especially with a brush. The bristles and scrubbing can easily damage carpet. The result of such typically ends in fraying as well as a texture change to the carpet.
Use a carpet cleaning brand that you trust. Though they may have all been laboratory tested, be sure to still pretest any cleaner on a scrap of carpet or in an out-of-the-way area of your carpet to be on the safe side.
Once you know the cleaner won’t harm your carpet, Follow the product’s directions carefully.Be sure to apply a SMALL amount of the cleaner to a white cloth and work in gently, from the edges to the center. You may need to do this several times in order to remove the spot. Once the spot is gone, blot the area with clear water once or more to remove any remaining product.
